Pastel Streets, Viewpoints, and the Perfect Escape

Lisbon is sunshine and tiles and hills that will humble your legs—in the cutest way. It’s one of my favorite city breaks because it feels lively but still calm, and there’s always a viewpoint nearby when you need a little pause.

Day 1: Alfama + miradouros + sunset

Start in Alfama early when the streets are quiet and the light makes everything glow. Wander slowly, take photos, get lost (politely), and make your way toward a viewpoint—Miradouro de Santa Luzia is the classic dreamy one.
In the afternoon, ride a tram if you want the experience, but don’t make your whole day dependent on it. Lisbon is better when you’re not stressed.
For sunset, pick a miradouro and bring a drink. It’s the easiest “main character” moment.

Day 2: Belém + pastries + river walks

Belém is a must, mostly because it feels different from central Lisbon—wider streets, river air, and iconic landmarks. Yes, go for the big sights… but also go for the pastries.
Spend the rest of the day walking along the waterfront and keeping your plans light. Lisbon is a slow-luxury vibe even when you’re doing it on a budget.

Day 3 (optional): Day trip magic

If you have an extra day, take a day trip. Lisbon is one of those cities where the nearby escapes are just as exciting as the city itself. You can do beaches, fairytale castles, or cute towns without needing a complicated plan.

Where I loved wandering most

  • Baixa/Chiado for shopping + cafés
  • Alfama for atmosphere + charm
  • Bairro Alto for evenings (and views)

Jasmine’s Lisbon tips

  • Wear comfy shoes (the hills are real)
  • Plan around viewpoints: one in the morning, one at sunset
  • Keep meals flexible—this city is full of spontaneous café stops
Lisbon feels like a soft reset: sunny, simple, and impossible not to fall for.
